Balance
Before I begin I would like to introduce myself for those of you who don't know me (I would say most people fit in this category) I'm carryabigbat. I posted on the boards for about seven months (May 2002 to sometime in December), due to work, track, and college in general I am not able to post right now. I can’t really say that I was a huge poster but I posted enough so that a few people knew me. I would probably say that I was pretty average for a sm.net user. I tried lots of stuff, IRC chat a few times, AOE, Fan Melee, Plo’s Hard Trivia, Luna’s Easy Trivia, and Mailbag. By the way, I will be using one of my letters from Mailbag to write this article (I hope no one minds?). Well that’s about it for a not so interesting intro…
Balance
I feel that the sooner people come to the conclusion that life is something needs to be lived the sooner they will find how much they can truly enjoy it. I can’t say I’m a wise person because I am definitely not, but I can tell you since I have begun college I have found that when a person can achieve balance in their life they will enjoy it greatly. This finally brings me to the good part, Family, Faith, Friends, and FB… opps I mean Earthbound and finding that perfect balance.
Most of my friends are not into video games, but that’s fine with me. I love Earthbound and many other great RPGs, but I think it's good that my friends are not into Earthbound. This site helps me continue to dream about a possible Mother 3 game. While my friends are awesome, because they help me in real life with stuff that is more important to me. Like going to our college faith group, meeting girls, playing sports, and hanging out. If I didn't have such group of good friends I would be lost in many senses of my life. On the other hand, Earthbound and Starmen.net are great for me, because there are sometimes that I just want to be alone and relax. During these down times that I have I really enjoy coming to this web site and just posting in the message boards, reading news on Mother 3, and every once in a while doing something like writing a entry for mailbag or doing an AOE project. Another thing I like about this page is that it has connected me to a few Earthbound fans that I can chat with. I cannot express how much I enjoy both of these aspects of my life (Time spent with Friends, and time alone or online just chillin).
My parents know very little about Earthbound. If you were to ask them, they would say, "Oh, that game you played for five hours straight that one time." … Okay so the five hours straight deal might not have been a good balance, but I’m sure any EB player has done that once or twice or maybe even way more then that ;). That’s about all they know about the game. That’s fine with me I love my parents, but I think that it's good we have some differences. We all have strong faiths, and we all are very competitive. But, when it comes to video games I am the only one in my family that enjoys them, and I think that’s great. Right now I can honestly say I feel like my life is the most balanced it has been in a long time. I would like to take this time to encourage everyone to think about what I have written and see if you can/or maybe you already have found that balance in your life? Trust me, I must say that when you find it you will feel great. I hope that my article didn’t bore you guys too much. (For those of you who took the time to read it) Well that is my first article I hope you enjoyed it. If you have any comments or questions feel free to e-mail me at: [email protected] (I like e-mails, either way if you liked it or not feel free to drop me an e-mail.) Take care sm.netters, until next time this is carryabigbat.
