Chapter 1 - Page 39: Psychokinetic Realization Goes "BLAM!" |
kenisu - #39
I PROMISE the battle FINALLY begins on the next page. As for the title, inspiration came from the Calvin and Hobbes collection "Scientific Progress Goes BOINK!" I had another title I wanted to use, but decided against it. What was the other title, you ask? "Feed the Childrens." Na na, na na na, hey hey, doot doot doot!

Chapter 1 - Page 40: The Doll Packs a Wallop |

You've always wondered what the flippant MOTHER battles would look like if translated to visual format... and here you go.

Chapter 1 - Page 41: Mimmie Snaps Out of It |
kenisu - #41
It's a sound-effect extravaganza! Except I think I should've gone with "WHUMP!" instead of "BOOF!" when Ninten catches Mimmie. Oh well.

Chapter 1 - Page 42: A Hop, a Skip, and a Jump |
kenisu - #42
I guess there's such a thing as too much detail... these panels can be terribly distracting from what I
wanted in the central focus: Ninten jumping onto the mini-table to avoid the bed; the bed turning around
for another swoop; Ninten deciding to jump onto the bed; and the springs in the mattress bouncing him all
the way to the dresser and the doll. How very cartoony.
But anyway, WHOO! Back to college, and back to the good scanners!

Chapter 1 - Page 43: Kewpie Blows Chunks |
kenisu - #43
I knew I wanted the doll to change its facial expression (the one and only time it ever does) just before Ninten decked its lights out, but originally I was going to make it a despairing "uh-oh!" face. I then realized that that would be inconsistent with the story, and it would make more sense for it to give off a bemused, "heh!" face instead.
I'm sure you're all wondering what the heck I'm talking about, but anyone who's familiar with the fan theories surrounding the poltergeist phenomenon at Ninten's house should be able to figure it out.
